About Us

The International Residential EMF Standards Council (IRESC) is an independent,
non-governmental organization headquartered in London, United Kingdom. IRESC is mandated to develop,
maintain, and advance certification and safety standards for residential real estate,
with a specific focus on electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure as a measurable component
of property quality, safety, and buyer confidence. The Council is composed of technical specialists and
subject-matter experts with over 15 years of professional experience in EMF assessment,
measurement practices, and risk-communication frameworks.

IRESC was established in response to an identified need for a dedicated, sector-specific standard
that addresses EMF conditions within residential properties. Existing regulatory limits, while providing
a legal baseline, do not consistently reflect the practical concerns of homebuyers nor the transaction
realities faced by property owners and real estate professionals. To address this gap, the Council developed
the IRESS 2026 – International Residential EMF Safety Standard, an independent benchmark
intended to promote transparency, support informed decision-making, and strengthen confidence in the safety
and quality of residential environments.

The Standard is governed by principles of scientific integrity, technical accuracy, and public-interest
responsibility. IRESC recognizes that environmental exposure science, building technologies, and residential
infrastructure evolve continuously; accordingly, all standard criteria, methodologies, and assessment
protocols are subject to systematic review, ongoing revision, and continuous improvement. This commitment
ensures that the IRESS 2026 – International Residential EMF Safety Standard remains current,
evidence-based, and aligned with emerging research and international best practice.
